Within the program, the Department of Physics offers the Physics for Teachers Area of Emphasis. This program is intended to provide the opportunity for students with diverse qualifications to improve the depth and breadth of their knowledge in the Physical Sciences. In cooperation with the Departments of Chemistry, Geology, Computer and Information Technology, and Mathematics, the Department of Physics offers a Master of Science in Physical and Applied Sciences Program (GS60). Master of Science in Physical and Applied Sciences (GS60) Although there is a core of required courses, this is a flexible track and we can make adjustments to meet individual preferences. This degree is designed for Physics Teachers and students with multidisciplinary interests. in Secondary Education through the Physics 9-Adult program it is within this program where the Physics Department ensures students are well prepared to become teachers with a strong background in Physics. Please see the College of Education and Professional Development section for the requirements for the B.A. The Physics Department works closely with the College of Education and Professional Development, who offers a B.A. in Secondary Education with Emphasis on Physics. If you are interested in teaching and are passionate about science, consider a B.A. in Secondary Education with Emphasis on Physics This will equip students with an opportunity to strengthen and broaden their educational credentials, as an enhancement of future employment prospects.ī.A. Students majoring in Engineering will benefit from a Minor in Physics as well. Students in the pre-health care professions, who must pursue a minor to meet graduation requirements, or who are interested in bio and medical physics applications, are encouraged to pursue a Minor in Physics. If your intended major is Engineering, Mathematics, Chemistry or any other science and have an interest in physics, a Minor in Physics will allow you to specifically choose physics subjects that most interest you. This includes also students with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering (BSE) with Emphasis in Physics. The Department of Physics waives the elective physics courses for students double majoring in physics and another science. Please contact your designated physics advisor. If you are on double major track with Physics, we will work with you to help you finish in 4 years. degree in Physics with an Area of Emphasis (AoE) in:įind information about the degree and areas of emphasis by visiting our Bachelor of Science in Physics page. The Department of Physics offers coursework leading toward the B.S.
